What Once Was Old is New Again
Mar. 14th, 2022 03:03 pmWith the current upheaval in Russian backed media lately (I wonder why, I jest to myself), I was reminded of the fact that I still technically have a Livejournal, and by extension, my backup Dreamwidth journal. It's crazy to think about the time when LJ had such an impact on my life, how many people I met through there, and how long ago that actually was.
My niece and nephew are very close to the age in which I started my LJ. Which I mean, how? I know I'm now in my mid-30s, but it's still absolute bananas to put that in the context of my online lives throughout the years.
Next year will be the 20th anniversary of when I started my original LJ. I mean. How. HOW.
I am now old.
And by writing this here, I am doing a tiny drop in the bucket to remind myself of that long ago time, and that long ago self that I have traveled so very far from.
Memories indeed.
